Hiroshima Day Trip from Osaka

Getting There

Shinkansen Nozomi: Shin-Osaka → Hiroshima: 1h20min, ¥10,440. Fastest but NOT JR Pass covered.
Shinkansen Hikari: 1h40min, ¥10,440. JR Pass covered ✓. Use this if you have a pass.
Bus: Overnight bus ~¥3,000 — for budget travelers, not day trips.

Day Trip Itinerary

9:00am — Arrive Hiroshima. Tram #2 or #6 to Peace Memorial Park (15 min).
9:30–11:30am — Peace Memorial Park and Museum (¥200). One of the world’s most significant war history museums.
11:30am — Hiroshima oysters for lunch near the Peace Park.
1:00pm — Shinkansen to Miyajima-guchi, then ferry to Miyajima island (25 min total). The floating torii gate is magnificent.
3:30pm — Return to Hiroshima.
6:00pm — Return shinkansen to Osaka.

Adding Miyajima

Miyajima with the iconic floating torii adds 2.5–3 hours but is absolutely worth including. Staying overnight in Hiroshima means better Miyajima at dawn or dusk.
