How to Get from Osaka to Nara

Kintetsu Nara Line (Recommended)

From Osaka-Namba or Kintetsu Uehommachi
Time: 35–40 minutes (Express) to Kintetsu Nara Station
Cost: ¥680 on IC card
Frequency: Every 15–20 minutes
Kintetsu Nara Station is the better starting point — 5 minutes from Nara Park. Take this unless you have a JR Pass.

JR Yamatoji Line

From JR Osaka Station or Tennoji
Time: 30–45 min to JR Nara Station
Cost: ¥470–830 depending on origin
JR Pass covered ✓
JR Nara Station is 10–15 min walk from Nara Park. Use if you have an active JR Pass.

Kintetsu Day Pass

The Kintetsu Rail Pass covers unlimited travel including Osaka–Nara–Kyoto. If doing multiple Kintetsu routes, offers excellent value.
