Nusa Penida Guide

Introduction

Nusa Penida is Bali’s most dramatic offshore island. The Kelingking Beach viewpoint — a T-Rex shaped cliff above turquoise water — is one of Indonesia’s most photographed spots. Beyond the famous images, the island has genuine raw beauty and fewer tourists than mainland Bali.

Top Attractions

Kelingking Beach

The iconic T-Rex cliff viewpoint. The descent to the beach is steep and rough (45–60 min each way). The viewpoint alone justifies the trip.

Broken Beach

Natural rock arch over a circular cove. Short walk from the car park. Stunning.

Angel’s Billabong

Natural rock pool at the ocean’s edge. Only safe during calm conditions — check before swimming.

Crystal Bay

Best snorkeling on Nusa Penida. Manta rays regularly sighted.

Atuh Beach

Remote east coast beach with crystal water and small islands offshore.

Day Trip vs Overnight

Day trip: Doable — take the 7am ferry, hire a driver, cover the west coast highlights, return evening ferry.

Overnight: More relaxed. Cover both coasts properly. Guesthouses from Rp 250,000.

Getting There

Fast boat from Sanur Beach: 45 minutes, Rp 175,000–250,000 each way. Multiple daily departures 7am–3pm.

Organized day trips include fast boat + driver covering 4–5 attractions. More convenient than organizing independently on a first visit.
