Bali Surf Guide

Bali for Surfers

Bali has breaks for all levels — from beginner beach breaks in Kuta to world-class reef breaks at Uluwatu. Peak surf season is April–October (dry season, consistent swell).

Breaks by Level

Beginner

Kuta Beach: Long gentle waves, soft sand, dozens of surf schools. The classic learn-to-surf spot.

Seminyak: Similar to Kuta, slightly less crowded.

Intermediate

Canggu (Batu Bolong, Echo Beach): Reef breaks with consistent waves. Popular with intermediate surfers.

Balangan: Reef break south of Uluwatu. Beautiful beach, less crowded.

Advanced / Expert

Uluwatu: Long left-hander off a dramatic cliff. Multiple sections. World-class June–September.

Padang Padang: Short, powerful, hollow tube. One of the world’s best barrels. Experts only.

Surf Schools

Kuta and Seminyak have dozens of schools. A 2-hour beginner lesson with board: Rp 250,000–400,000. Most students stand up on their first lesson.
