Dotonbori: The Heart of Osaka
Neon signs, giant moving crabs, street food stalls, and the Glico Running Man. The Dotonbori canal is Osaka’s most famous district — a sensory overload in the best possible way.
Must-Eat Foods
Takoyaki: Osaka’s iconic octopus balls — crispy outside, gooey inside. Try Aiduya or Kukuru. ¥500–700 for 6–8 pieces.
Okonomiyaki: Osaka-style savory pancake. Chibo is famous. ¥1,000–1,500.
Kushikatsu: Deep-fried skewers. Critical rule: never double-dip the communal sauce.
Fresh crab: Kani Doraku is the original — expensive but excellent.
What to See
Glico Running Man: The iconic illuminated billboard — best photographed from Ebisu Bridge at night.
Canal boat tour: 20-minute trip along Dotonbori canal. ¥900.
Don Quijote: Multi-story discount store never closes. Good for souvenirs at 3am.
