Do You Need a China Visa?
As of 2025, citizens of 38+ countries can enter China visa-free for 15–30 days including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, Austria, Hungary, Luxembourg, UAE, Malaysia, Thailand. Citizens of USA, UK, Canada, Australia still require a visa.
Standard Tourist Visa (L Visa)
Apply at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in your country. Documents needed: passport (6+ months validity), application form, photo, flight itinerary, hotel booking, bank statement, travel insurance.

China e-Visa
China launched a full e-visa system in 2024 for eligible nationalities — apply online at evisa.mfa.gov.cn, receive by email in 4–7 days. No consulate visit needed. Cost approximately $50–100 USD.
144-Hour Transit Visa-Free
Transiting China? You may qualify for 6 days visa-free in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi’an and other cities without a full visa — just need a ticket to a third country.
