Bali Instagram Spots: Most Photogenic Places

Bali’s Most Photogenic Locations

Gates of Heaven (Pura Lempuyang)

Bali’s most famous photo spot — a split gate framing Mount Agung, with a reflection pool below. The trick: arrive before 7am for no queue. Entry IDR 100,000. The “reflection” is created by a mirror held by the photographer — the actual pool is shallow. Manage expectations but still beautiful.

Tegalalang Rice Terraces Swing

Wooden swing over emerald-green terraces with Mount Agung in the background. Multiple competing businesses, IDR 100,000–200,000. Best light: early morning with mist in the valleys.

Tanah Lot Sunset

Temple on a sea stack silhouetted against a fiery sky — one of Asia’s iconic images. Arrive 45 min before sunset. Entry IDR 75,000.

Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida

The T-Rex shaped cliff — Bali’s most dramatic landscape photo. View from the top is free (5-min walk from parking). Descent to the beach requires a 45-min steep hike.

Handara Gate

Traditional Balinese split gate set against misty mountains and a golf course — a surreal backdrop. In highland Bedugul area. Entry IDR 50,000 for photos. Very early morning for mist.

Campuhan Ridge Walk

Golden rice paddy walk above Ubud with valley views. Free. Best in early morning light (7–9am) when mist sits in the valleys below.

Tirta Gangga Water Palace

Tiered fountains, stepping stones over carp-filled pools, framed by tropical gardens. Entry IDR 50,000. Best at opening time (7am) before tour groups arrive.

Jatiluwih Rice Terraces

Largest and most dramatic rice terrace landscape — UNESCO listed, 600 hectares, almost no tourists. Entry IDR 30,000. Best with a local cycling guide.

Bali Swings (General)

Beyond Tegalalang, the Bali Swing company near Ubud offers multiple jungle and rice field swings at varying heights. IDR 200,000–350,000. Good for variety of shots.

Tips for Better Bali Photos

  • Golden hour (6:30–8am, 5–6:30pm) transforms every location
  • Rainy season (Nov–March) brings dramatic clouds and mist — often better photos than blue-sky dry season
  • Hire a local photographer for half a day — IDR 500,000–800,000 for professional shots at 3–4 locations
  • Weekday mornings have far fewer tourists at popular spots
