Introduction
Phuket is Thailand’s largest island and its most-visited destination. The reputation for party tourism is earned but only tells part of the story — beyond Patong Beach, Phuket has excellent cuisine, stunning coastal scenery, interesting culture, and some of Southeast Asia’s best offshore diving.

Best Beaches in Phuket
Kata Noi Beach
Widely considered Phuket’s finest beach. Small, sheltered, clear water, fewer crowds than nearby Kata or Patong. Excellent for swimming and snorkeling.
Karon Beach
Long, wide beach with room to spread out. Less developed than Patong, better for families. Good range of accommodation.
Patong Beach
The most famous and most developed. Great if you want nightlife, shopping, and activity. Avoid if you want quiet beaches — Bangla Road is directly behind it.
Surin Beach
Upscale, beautiful, less crowded. Near several excellent restaurants. Rocky sections but superb snorkeling.
Nai Harn Beach
Southern Phuket. Beautiful, relatively undeveloped, popular with locals and yachts anchoring offshore. Excellent for swimming.
Kamala Beach
Quieter alternative to Patong. Family-friendly, good restaurants, calmer atmosphere.
