Bali’s West-Facing Magic
Bali’s west coast faces the Indian Ocean — spectacular sunsets almost every evening. Here are the best spots.
Uluwatu Temple — 70m cliff above the ocean. Kecak fire dance at sunset (IDR 100,000). Arrive 30 min early. Watch your belongings from monkeys.
Tanah Lot — temple on a sea stack. IDR 75,000. Arrive 45 min before sunset. Can be very crowded.
Seminyak Beach — La Plancha (free colourful beanbags), Potato Head or Ku De Ta (minimum spend). Or just sit on the sand with a Bintang for free.
Single Fin, Uluwatu — surf bar on the cliff. Live music Sundays. More relaxed than Seminyak clubs. IDR 100,000–150,000 minimum.
The Lawn, Canggu — beachfront with sunloungers. Good music, reasonable prices.
Balangan Beach — hidden beach below cliffs, free, much less crowded than main beaches.
Tips
Bali’s sunset: roughly 6:00–6:30pm year-round. Arrive 30–45 min early at popular spots. Even cloudy days can produce dramatic sunsets.
