Ubud (Central Highlands)
The cultural heart. Rice terraces, temples, traditional dance, cooking classes, yoga retreats. Cooler than the coast (24–28°C). Best base for culture.
Seminyak and Canggu (Southwest Coast)
Seminyak is upscale — boutique hotels, excellent restaurants, sunset beach clubs. Canggu is younger, more relaxed, strong surf scene and digital nomad community.
Kuta (South)
The original party beach. Loud, commercialized, best for budget accommodation and nightlife. Most travelers now prefer Seminyak or Canggu.
Uluwatu (Bukit Peninsula)
Dramatic clifftop temples, world-class surf (Padang Padang, Uluwatu), luxury villas. Less crowded than the main strip.
Amed (East Bali)
Quiet, local, excellent diving. Authentic Balinese village life. USAT Liberty shipwreck dive nearby.

Must-Do Experiences
Tegallalang Rice Terraces
The iconic stepped terraces north of Ubud. Visit at dawn for best light and no crowds.
Tanah Lot Temple
Sea temple on a rock offshore. Best at sunset. Very crowded — go at non-peak hours.
Uluwatu Temple and Kecak Dance
Clifftop temple with ocean views. Kecak fire dance at sunset (Rp 150,000 — book ahead).
Mount Batur Sunrise Hike
Active volcano. Pre-dawn hike to summit for sunrise over the caldera. Guide required.
Cooking Class
Bali cooking classes include market visit + 4–5 hours cooking Balinese dishes. Ubud has the best.
