Japan — Never tip. Tipping is not part of Japanese culture and causes genuine awkwardness. The price includes service.

South Korea — Generally no. Similar to Japan. Not expected or required.

Thailand — Tips appreciated.

  • Restaurants: Round up or leave ฿20–100
  • Massage: ฿50–100
  • Tour guides: ฿100–300/person/day

Bali/Indonesia — Tips welcome.

  • Restaurants: 10% if not included
  • Spa/massage: Rp 30,000–50,000
  • Driver/guide: Rp 50,000–100,000/day

Vietnam — Tips welcome.

  • Mid-range restaurants: 10–15%
  • Tour guides: $5–10/person/day

India — Tipping expected.

  • Restaurants: 10%
  • Tour guides: ₹200–500/person/day

Singapore/Hong Kong: 10% service charge usually added to bills. Additional tip optional.
