Singapore is one of the most visa-friendly destinations in the world. Citizens of most Western countries, all ASEAN members, and many other nationalities enter visa-free for 30-90 days. Here is who needs what.
Visa-free countries
Citizens of EU member states, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and most other developed nations enter Singapore visa-free for 30-90 days (the exact duration depends on nationality). ASEAN member nationals generally enter visa-free. Check the Singapore Immigration website (ica.gov.sg) for your specific nationality’s entitlement.
Visa required
A smaller group of nationalities requires a visa — apply at the Singapore embassy or high commission in your home country, or through a Singapore-based contact who can sponsor a social visit pass. The list includes some South Asian, Middle Eastern, and African nationalities. Check ica.gov.sg for current requirements.
Arrival
Changi Airport’s immigration is one of the world’s most efficient — most visitors are through in 5-15 minutes. The airport’s Jewel complex is worth exploring if you have time between flights. The MRT from Changi to the city center takes 30 minutes and costs SGD $1.70 — the cheapest airport connection of any major world city. Book transfers or Welcome Pickups if you prefer a private transfer.
