What Is the DMZ?
The Korean Demilitarized Zone — 4km-wide buffer zone separating North and South Korea, running 250km across the peninsula. Created by the 1953 Armistice Agreement.
What You’ll See
Joint Security Area (JSA) at Panmunjom: The only point where North and South Korean soldiers stand face-to-face. You can technically step into the North Korean side inside the blue UN buildings.
3rd Infiltration Tunnel: Dug by North Korea in 1978. Walk 1.7km underground. North Korea painted it black and claimed it was a coal mine.
Dora Observatory: Views over North Korea. The propaganda city of Kijong-dong visible on clear days.
Dorasan Station: Southernmost station in Korea — built for the day reunification comes.
