Jeonju Travel Guide

Jeonju is South Korea’s most underrated city — best-preserved hanok village, birthplace of bibimbap, excellent makgeolli culture. 2.5 hours from Seoul by KTX.

Jeonju Hanok Village

600 traditional hanok houses. Walk the lanes at dusk with lanterns lit.

Top sites: Gyeonggijeon Shrine, Jeonju Hyanggyo Confucian School, Omokdae viewpoint.

Jeonju Bibimbap

The dish was born here. Served in a stone bowl (dolsot) with raw egg. The crispy rice layer at the bottom is the best part.

Where to eat: Gogung Restaurant (most famous), many options in the hanok village.

Makgeolli Culture
