Introduction
Siargao is the Philippines’ surfing capital — a teardrop-shaped island in the Surigao del Norte province, home to Cloud 9, one of Asia’s great surf breaks. Beyond surfing, it has exceptional island hopping, beautiful lagoons, and a laid-back vibe that draws digital nomads and long-stay travelers.

Cloud 9 Surf Break
The reason most people come to Siargao. Cloud 9 is a powerful right-hand reef break that can reach 8–10 feet on good days. The boardwalk and viewing tower above the break make it excellent for spectators as well as surfers.
Best for: Experienced and advanced surfers. Not recommended for beginners when overhead.
Best surf season: August–November (NE monsoon brings consistent swells).
Surf schools and board rentals: Available in General Luna (the main town), ₱500–700/day for board rental.

Island Hopping
Siargao’s island hopping tour visits three uninhabited islands:
Naked Island: A sandbar — literally just white sand in the ocean. Extraordinary.
Daku Island: Larger island with coconut trees, white sand beach, beach lunch included in tours.
Guyam Island: Small, covered in palms, beautiful shallow snorkeling.
Tour: ₱700–1,000/person including boat and lunch.
—
Sugba Lagoon
An emerald lagoon 45 minutes from General Luna by boat. The water is extraordinarily clear — jump from a wooden platform into the turquoise water, kayak, or simply float.
Entry: ₱200. Boat: ₱1,500–2,000 return.

Getting to Siargao
By air: Direct flights from Manila (2 hours, ₱1,500–4,000) and Cebu (1 hour, ₱1,000–2,500) to Sayak Airport (IAO).
