Philippines Travel Guide

Introduction

7,641 islands — and the best of them are extraordinary. El Nido in Palawan is arguably Southeast Asia’s most beautiful destination. Siargao is the Philippines’ surfing capital. Coron has world-class wreck diving.

Best Destinations

El Nido, Palawan

Southeast Asia’s most-photographed destination. Limestone karst islands, hidden lagoons, white sand beaches, crystal water. Island hopping here is among the world’s great travel experiences.

Island hopping tours: A, B, C, D — each visits different lagoons and beaches. Book ahead December–April.

Coron, Palawan

Famous for WWII Japanese shipwreck diving and pristine lakes (Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake).

Siargao

Philippines’ surf capital. Cloud 9 is one of Asia’s great waves. Beautiful lagoons and mangroves.

Boracay

Famous White Beach — overbuilt but the beach remains beautiful. Best for beach + nightlife.

Cebu

Diving hub — sardine runs at Moalboal, thresher sharks at Malapascua, historic capital.

Practical Tips

Getting around: Domestic flights (Cebu Pacific, AirAsia Philippines) connect major islands.

Tricycles: Short local distances. Negotiate fare beforehand.

Typhoon season: June–November. Palawan has better weather year-round than east coast.

El Nido island hopping Tours A, B, C, D are the highlight of Palawan — book in advance December–April peak season.
